The Violet Foundation began in April 2002 after a successful fund-raising function was conducted for a victim of meningococcal. It was identified at this time there was no current Sydney based charity organisation that was raising awareness in relation to meningococcal.
A small group of people who had been affected or touched by meningococcal in some form, came together to establish the Violet Foundation Supporting Meningococcal.
The committee was formed and the three main aims of the Foundation were established. These were:
- Promote public awareness about meningococcal
- Provide financial assistance to victims of meningococcal
- Provide financial funding for research into meningococcal
All members of the committee volunteer their services to ensure all funds raised go towards the aims of the Foundation.
